Northside Hospital-Forsyth offering free cardiovascular screening

POSTED: March 29, 2017 2:00 a.m.

Northside Hospital-Forsyth is offering free cardiovascular screening in April to determine one’s risk of heart disease.

Northside Heart and Vascular Institute is offering the service, which will be performed by a health care professional on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at Northside’s Education Center, on the third floor.

The screening will include cardiovascular disease, or CVD, risk assessment, a blood pressure reading, total cholesterol and glucose testing, body mass index (BMI) analysis and a one-on-one consultation with a doctor or nurse.

According to the American Heart Association, CVD is the No. 1 killer of Americans.

Smoking, obesity and other risk factors can increase a person’s likelihood of developing CVD, which Northside’s professionals will discuss with patients at the screening.

They will also help participants create a plan to help prevent CVD.

The screening is free, but registration is required.

Those interested are asked to call (404) 851-6550 to schedule the screening.
