Sewer spill cleaned up

POSTED: August 31, 2014 12:04 a.m.

EAST FORSYTH — A crew from the Forsyth County Water and Sewer Department contained a small sewer spill last week in an east Forsyth subdivision.

According to the department, the incident was reported about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday by a customer who noticed water seeping out of a manhole at 8235 Aulden Place.

The responding crew found a plug in the sewer line for a new development under construction.

According to the department, sewer was pumped out of the manhole using a pump truck and the plug was removed at 4:05 p.m.

Officials estimated that about 150 gallons of gray water spilled from the manhole and reached a small unnamed creek. The area was cleaned, limed and signs were posted.
