FORSYTH COUNTY — A young couple who posed as potential homebuyers before burglarizing a Forsyth County home remains in custody.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Tyler Michels of Roswell and Rebecca Wiesmayer, 23 of Cumming were charged Aug. 18 with burglary. Michels also faces several drug charges.

Michel’s bond has been set at $39,000, while Wiesmayer’s is $16,800, according to detention center records.

Doug Rainwater, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, said the suspects were arrested after they went to a home that was for sale by owner.

“They posed as an engaged couple, knocked on the door of the home and asked for a tour since they were interested in possibly buying it,” Rainwater said. “They homeowner let them in and gave them a tour of the home.

“They then left the home and waited down the street until the homeowner left.”

They then returned to the home, parked in the driveway, broke in through a rear window and took several items.

According to Rainwater, a neighbor noticed that the vehicle had returned after the homeowner left and got the tag number while Michels and Wiesmayer were inside.

Deputies were then able to use it to track down Wiesmayer and later Michels.

Rainwater described both suspects as drug users who planned the burglary in order to steal and pawn items to buy drugs.
