FORSYTH COUNTY -- A man whose domestic-related incident led to a lockdown at West Forsyth High School in November has been indicted for the fight.

Randall Dunford, a Cumming resident who was 45 at the time of his arrest on Nov. 28, faces counts of aggravated assault and battery for reportedly attacking another man with a gun and hitting him, according to a Forsyth County general bill of indictment.

Dunford was detained about five hours after deputies began searching for him, which was enough time for social media posts to circulate claiming a possible shooter was at or near the West campus on Drew Road.

Deputies searched the woods near the campus while after school activities were still going on after a domestic dispute was called in about 5:45 p.m.

Dunford reportedly left the scene before deputies arrived to the location of the incident.

Cpl. Pete Sabella, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, said at the time that four deputies were placed on campus out of an abundance of caution and that people at the school were never in danger.

Dunford was indicted in January by a Forsyth County grand jury.

He pled not guilty on Feb. 1. No trial date has been set.

Forsyth County Superior Court Judge David L. Dickinson is presiding over the case.
