HALL COUNTY - Two suspects are in custody following an armed robbery Tuesday morning at the Dollar General store on Atlanta Highway in Oakwood.

Two men wearing masks went into the store near Cresthill Drive and demanded money from the cashier at gunpoint, Oakwood Police Sgt. Danny Sridej said.

They took money from the register and then ran from the store.

Authorities were alerted and began searching for the suspects, with nearby Interstate 985 closed during the manhunt. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Oakwood police joined in the search.

The suspects were caught in the woods near the store soon after the incident, Sridej said.

“We did recover some money from one suspect,” he said. “The other one — I’m not sure yet.”
