One person was killed in a crash Thursday morning on A.C. Smith Road near the Silver City community.
A Cumming man was killed Thursday morning in a head-on collision with a garbage truck near the Silver City community in extreme north Forsyth, authorities said.Forsyth County Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Shelton identified the driver as Roger L. Adkins, 56.Shelton said there were no passengers in the Ford Tempo, which appears to have been traveling east on A.C. Smith Road when it crossed into the path of the westbound truck about 9:30 a.m.Authorities have not determined what caused Adkins to cross over.No charges have been filed in connection with the wreck, which closed the road for about two hours.The driver of the Sanitation Solutions Inc. truck, 35-year-old Shane Mullins of Cumming, was not injured, nor was his passenger.It was the fourth fatal wreck of the year on Forsyth County roads. The first three happened in a four-day span earlier this month.On Jan. 17 , a 70-year-old Ball Ground man was killed when his pickup truck was struck by another vehicle at Hwy. 141 and Sharon Road in south Forsyth.Two days earlier, a 42-year-old man died when his pickup truck crashed at Doc Bramblett and Wallace Lake Circle in northwestern Forsyth.A two-vehicle collision Jan. 14 on Buford Dam Road near the Ga. 400 bridge in Cumming claimed the life of a 38-year-old man.Authorities have said ice on the road was a likely factor.In both the Jan. 14 and 17 wrecks, a driver has been charged with second degree vehicular homicide, among other counts.
