1 dead in tractor accident

A 72-year-old Forsyth County man died over the weekend after his tractor overturned.

According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report, Maurice Edwin Martin was found about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in a ditch near his McCoy Circle home.

The report said Martin’s wife, Margaret Martin, called her son after she woke up and could not
find him.

She last saw Martin about 11 p.m. when he was working by himself in a shed on the property, the report said.

His son, Brett Martin, saw the tractor’s lights in a ditch and found that it had turned over on his father.

Fire and emergency personnel responded to the scene.

There were no other vehicles involved or injuries reported.

The family could not be reached for comment Monday.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home.

According to his obituary, other survivors include his children Lynn and Nelson Scarborough of Andover, Mass., and Eddie and Angie Martin and Bradley and Dennia Martin, all of Dawsonville.

He also is survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and sisters and brothers-in-law.
