Who: Pinecrest Academy is a private Catholic school serving Pre-K through 12 students.

What: Pinecrest is hosting Dr. Tim Elmore’s presentation of “Marching Off the Map: Inspiring the EPIC Generation,” based on his book. Dr. Elmore plans to use his knowledge of Generation Y and Z to equip parents, educators, mentors and others to bestow practical skills and a leadership mindset upon young adults.

When: Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at 7 p.m.

Where: Pinecrest Academy in the Upper School gym, at 955 Peachtree Parkway in Cumming.

Local church organizes car show

Who: Ophir Baptist Church has served Ball Ground and the surrounding communities for more than 140 years.

What: A car show for classic cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles along with a silent auction, bake auction, and 50/50 raffle to raise funds for the church.

When: Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Sawnee Elementary School, at 1616 Canton Highway in Cumming.

Cost: $20 Pre-registration per entry, $25 registration per entry at show (8:30-11:30 a.m.)

Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber’s 31st Annual Golf Tournament

Who: The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce assists local businesses and recruits new businesses for the long-term benefit of the community, as well as recommends legislation and protects local resources.

What: The golf tournament is the perfect opportunity to blow off steam, network, showcase your business and more.

When: Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. Registration begins at 9 p.m. Tournament begins at 10 a.m.

Where: Laurel Springs Golf Club, at 6400 Golf Club Drive in Suwanee.

Cost: Registration for single player is $200, team registration is $800.
