The Place of Forsyth is holding its third annual Ladies Luncheon to raise awareness and money for the organization’s numerous youth programs.
The event will feature Haywood Smith — best-selling author of “The Red Hat Club” — as a keynote speaker, a hat contest, Chinese auction, numerous informational tables and a meal catered by Northside Hospital Forsyth.
Joni Smith, executive director of The Place, said the event’s purpose is twofold.
First, to help raise funds for the organization’s myriad youth programs. The Place holds summer camps and has teen internships. It hosted a Holiday House during Christmas that got gifts to more than 2,000 kids last year and distributed backpacks to more than 1,400 students in Forsyth County.
Second, it’s to honor the organization’s founding by four nuns in 1975 whose mission was to impact the local community in any way possible.
“I know when a group of women get together they understand how important it is to invest in our youth in a lot of ways,” Smith said.
The luncheon will be held Monday, May 7 at noon at Mountain Lake Church off Dahlonega Highway. Tickets are $25 and can be reserved at theplaceofforsyth.org.
