DAWSONVILLE — The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is turning to the public for help in finding a teenager who went missing last month.

Investigators say Katherine Emily Gayozo-Calzon, 17, was wearing pajamas when she left her home on foot about 6:15 a.m. Jan. 26.

While she has been in touch with friends, her whereabouts are unknown at this time, according to Sgt. Christopher Murphy.

"She has family in Florida, but has not reached out to them," he said.

Gayozo-Calzon reportedly left her cellphone and belongings at home.

Murphy said he believes there are individuals who are helping the teen hide out.

"It should be noted that anyone that is assisting Katherine or know her whereabouts could be charged with interference with child custody," he said. "I am hoping by putting this out that someone will come forward with information."

"Katie," as she is known to her friends, is 5 feet tall and weighs 125 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
