There are only a handful of slots remaining for this year’s Business Expo, held annually by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.
Jason Mock, director of the chamber’s Small Business Services Center, on Tuesday said just four booths remained unfilled for the event, which will be held Aug. 8 at the Lanier Technical College Conference Center.
“There is space for 63 businesses in total and so far we already have 59 of those filled with about two weeks to go,” he said. “So we feel very good about getting the remaining four booths sold in that amount of time.”
Mock said the Business Expo is always a hit with both presenting businesses and spectators, who can attend for free.
“It is one of our most popular events that we put on with the chamber,” he said. “I think our business community likes the Business Expo for many reasons. It’s a great opportunity for businesses to showcase the product lines that they offer, the services that they offer, to our business community and the general public.”
Mock said businesses with booths at the expo include everything from banks and attorneys to pest control and health services.
“We have a great number of different kinds of vendors that will be set up for the expo,” Mock said. “A little bit of everything will be out there.”
This is the third year for the expo to be presented inside the Lanier Technical College Conference Center.
“That’s a great facility to hold an event like this,” Mock said. “It gives us an opportunity to hold our working lunch as well as the expo in the same facility on the same day and allow folks to just come to one area.”
Just as last year, the expo will begin with the “working lunch” at 11:30 a.m., in which anyone can pay $10 to attend.
Mock said Mark McGraw, president of Sandler Sales in Atlanta, will be the speaker.
“He’ll talk to us a little about how to get the most out of your day,” Mock said. “It’s a topic that a lot of people deal with in that you leave the office and you really feel like you’ve accomplished these goals today. But as you’re driving home you start thinking, ‘What did I really do … and did I really accomplish the goals that I set?’”
Mock said Sales will lead the audience through steps that allow a business person to “really manage their day a little bit better.”
Lunch will be provided by Panera Bread.
“People should come out and have a great lunch and hear a great speaker for just $10,” Mock said. “You really can’t beat that anywhere you go in this county for lunch.”
Anyone interested in attending the lunch is asked to R.S.V.P. by calling the chamber at (770) 887-6461 or registering online at www.cummingforsythchamber.org.
After lunch, the expo floor will open at 1 p.m. Then at 4 p.m., an Expo After Hours event will begin and run through 6 p.m.
During the Expo After Hours, Mock said about 10 local restaurants will bring in food samples.
Attendance is free to the expo and After Hours events.
Mock said last year the events drew about 1,000 people and he’s anticipating about that many this year.
“So it should be a full day of fun activities for our business community to kind of get to know one another and kind of learn new products, new people and see old friends as well,” he said.
