CUMMING — Ingram Funeral Home and the Robert Forsyth chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be holding a flag retirement ceremony Saturday morning to commemorate Flag Day and the 239th birthday of the U.S. Army.

Attendees are invited to bring flags of their own which they would like to retire. All of the flags will then be burned in accordance with U.S. flag code, with each of them used to honor a veteran.

Elizabeth Mitchell, director of community relations at Ingram, said this is the first formal flag retirement ceremony held at the funeral home. However, Ingram has retired flags in the past by including them in cremation services for veterans.

Boy Scout Troop 1099 will assist the SAR with the ceremony, which is set for 8 a.m. at the funeral home, 210 Ingram Ave. in Cumming.
