The Collection at Forsyth will kick off holiday activities Saturday with a festival and Santa Claus lighting the tree.
The family event will start at 3 p.m. with activities for kids, including beading, a balloon artist, face painting and “all the fun stuff,” said April Rains, spokeswoman for the outdoor mall on Peachtree Parkway.
Families can also enjoy carriage rides through the property, booths from businesses and restaurants and live entertainment.
The choir from First Redeemer Church will be singing Christmas carols and “American Idol” finalist Phil Stacey will perform.
At 5 p.m., the tree lighting ceremony will begin, with Santa illuminating the new 50-foot tree at the entrance to The Collection.
“It’s beautiful,” Rains said. “It really is a focal point, especially from Peachtree Parkway.”
On the following Saturdays (Dec. 7, 14 and 21), the complimentary carriage rides will continue from 1 to 5 p.m., and photos with Santa will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Kids can also hear stories from Santa at 1 p.m. in the park.
This will be the center’s first holiday season as The Collection, since the property was purchased from the former owner and changed names from the Avenue Forsyth.
“It’s an opportunity to bring the community in and say thank you for shopping with us and dining with us and having your family time out at the property,” Rains said.
