SOUTH FORSYTH — A crew from the Forsyth County Water and Sewer Department contained a small sewer spill earlier this week in a south Forsyth office park.
According to the department, the incident was reported about 5:30 p.m. Monday via an after-hours answering service.
The responding crew found gray water escaping from a manhole adjacent to the parking lot of a business at 1345 Ridgeland Parkway. The water was running down the curb and into a nearby storm drain.
Ridgeland is located off McFarland Parkway and near Alpharetta and the Fulton County line.
Further investigation revealed the line was blocked by rags. After clearing the blockage, the crew had washed down and spread lime in the area by 8 p.m., according to the department.
Officials estimated that about 250 gallons of sewage reached the storm drain that emptied into a detention pond.
