Christmas is coming early for fairy fans.

Mark Roberts, creator of collectible fairy, elf and Santa Claus figurines, will be at Parsons Gifts & Collectibles on Friday.

“He’s real selective about where he comes,” said Kathi Lane, an 11-year Parsons employee. “Every Mark Roberts collector should meet him.”

Friday will mark Roberts’ third visit to the Lakeland Plaza shop.

During last year’s appearance, more than 750 of his products sold. Parsons co-owner Cris Willis said it’s because Roberts always draws a crowd.

“Once they meet the artist, they feel more in touch with his line,” she said. “It just brings out more of the personality.”

Presales of Roberts’ product lines are up 15 percent over last year. By the time the signing is over Friday, Willis said, “I’m sure that line will be up 20 to 30 percent over last year.”

After meeting Roberts, Lane said customers tend to stay loyal to his work, returning year after year.

The hand-painted, whimsical creations “all have individuality and personality.”

“He also maintains contact with the customers, letting them know about events, new products and what fairies will be retiring,” Lane said.

“And when Mark is here, he teaches his customers and shows them how each fairy or elf or Santa is wired so you can do magical ... poses with them.”

Parsons carries Roberts’ full line, including his fairies and elves, as well as home décor and Christmas products.

Lane said Friday will be a busy day for the store.

“We pick up business from other people that collect Mark Roberts from across the state,” Lane said. “We have people who drive from ... Savannah to get their fairies signed.”
