Daves Creek rezoning decision delayed

Forsyth County commissioners have postponed to Aug. 15 a decision on the rezoning application for 88 Daves Creek LLC for nearly 84 acres on Daves Creek Drive.

Commissioner Todd Levent included a requirement that the applicant submit a zoning site plan for a Residential-4 build-out prepared by a registered engineer and a report from a retained environmental consultant delineating all state waters on the site.

The developer initially requested a rezoning from agricultural to Res-6, but later showed an alternative, less dense Res-4 plan in the face of resident opposition.

The planning board last month recommended a rezoning to Res-4 with a maximum of 247 homes.

Also during their meeting Thursday night, the commission:

* Granted a conditional use permit for Grace Fellowship of South Forsyth for a worship facility and accessory uses for a school and day care.

The church will total 88,000 square feet on the 7.4-acre property on Ronald Reagan Boulevard.

* Approved a rezoning to commercial and a conditional use permit for an open storage yard on Hwy. 9 in southwest Forsyth. The 2.1-acre property was previously zoned single family residential.
