The deadline to nominate a family or individual for a room makeover is fast approaching.
Allison Havill Todd Interiors, a Forsyth County interior design company, is again seeking nominations for its Designing Dreams program.
Begun in 2009, Designing Dreams each year provides a complete room makeover for a family or individual in need.
A 200- to 500-word essay describing why the nominee is in need of the room makeover is required, as well as completed nomination form, which can be found on the website.
According to Allison Havill Todd, the program started out of her belief that one’s environment can have a big impact on emotional well-being.
“That is a true belief of mine, that if you have a beautiful space, it can be uplifting,” she said.
Past recipients of the program have included Jesse’s House and the Bald Ridge Lodge, as well as a family with a daughter who had numerous health issues.
The 2012 recipient was a woman who had lost her husband and faced much financial hardship due to medical bills.
Todd said nominations can be submitted for “any family or individual facing any sort of hardship, be it physical, emotional or financial.”
Nominees must also own their home and be a resident in Forsyth or surrounding communities.
Each year, Todd joins with various vendors to plan and execute a complete “floor to ceiling” room makeover, with items such as flooring, wall coverings, furniture and decorative items.
The makeover does not include any structural changes.
After all the nominations are received, a selection community comprised of community members will choose this year’s winner around the first of September.
The room makeover will be completed by the end of the year.
