A Cumming woman accused of embezzling about $540,000 from her former employer over a two-year span has been indicted on 10 counts of felony theft by taking.

Linda Marie Michaels, 46, was arrested in November 2011 in connection with the thefts from her former employer, Pro Air Systems in northeast Forsyth.

According to court records, she is scheduled to enter a plea on May 1. Each count represents a quarter of a year, with alleged thefts spanning between March 2009 and August 2011.

Authorities have said Michaels, who the grand jury indicted last month, had been the business manager at the company.

An accountant reported the suspected thefts, which led to a months-long sheriff’s office investigation.

At the time of Michaels’ arrest, the owner said he had become suspicious when he saw her taking trips, making large purchases and arriving at work one day in a new sport utility vehicle.

Michaels reportedly wrote about 330 checks to herself, according to authorities. She had worked for the company since 2001.
