CUMMING — Northside Hospital-Forsyth will hold a free skin cancer screening next week.

The event comes on the heels of a community screening in late July, which hospital representatives said proved quite popular.

“We had more than 100 people on a waiting list for our screening on July 23,” said Katherine Watson, a spokeswoman for the hospital.

“Due to that overwhelming response … we have decided to host a second free screening.”

The event is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 in Suite 140 of Northside Hospital-Forsyth, 1100 Northside Forsyth Drive.

Those who are interested in obtaining a screening should make an appointment by calling (404) 845-5555 and pressing “0.”

Watson said medical professionals will provide each skin assessment in a private setting. Recommended attire for the screenings is shorts and a T-shirt.

She said those who were placed on the waiting list after the July 23 event will be contacted by Northside representatives and given first opportunity for available appointments.

The remaining slots will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
