How the chamber is bringing customers and businesses together

An upcoming event is a great way for locals to find out about more than 80 businesses in the community.

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce’s annual FOCO Expo will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The event will feature more than 80 local vendors, which is up from 68 in 2018.

“Several years back, we tried to transition this event from being a trade show-focused expo to something that is community focused, something where we could bring the business community but also the residential community of Forsyth County together for an evening of making business connections but also having fun and kind of celebrating the end of summer,” said Laura Stewart, with the chamber.

Stewart said the event is a good chance for locals to find new business and businesses to find new customers.

“When neighbors are buying from the neighbors’ businesses, it helps to promote the county’s economy and the community at large,” she said.

Each of the expo’s vendors will have booths set up, with most of them giving away free items.

“All the booths tend to really engage with kids and with families and for it to be a fun atmosphere to network,” Stewart said.

In addition to vendors, the event will include food trucks, beer and wine for sale, costumed characters, inflatables, face painting, prizes and an expo-wide bingo game.

The largest of the giveaways will be raffles for a two-year lease of a Hyundai Elantra from Hyundai of Cumming and for a three-day cruise to the Bahamas from Expedia CruiseShipCenters.
