Mentor Me North Georgia was the beneficiary of a recent bi-monthly networking event.
The nonprofit that matches children with adult mentors received proceeds from January’s “Cocktails, Community & Connections” event organized by The Networking Social.
The company focuses on building relationships in the community through marketing and relationship networking for area businesses.
The event was held at The Ridge restaurant and featured a variety of donated products and services.
Sylvia Cardona, executive director of the local Mentor Me, said she was grateful people could learn more about the organization at the gathering.
“Every year we help more than 300 children and youth, and we are always in need of more mentors,” she said. “The funds raised by the event will help us support a mentor/mentee match for a year.”
In a statement, Networking Social founder and manager Kimberly Starr stressed the importance of giving back.
“It is also important to educate the community about nonprofit organizations that do so much to help people in need,” she said.
“That’s why we hold the ‘Cocktails, Com-munity & Connections’ events, to spotlight our nonprofits … by participating, local businesses gain exposure and have the opportunity to contribute to organizations that serve the community.”
