Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation recently presented three Forsyth County nonprofits with grants.
Provided through the Sawnee Foundation’s Operation Round Up, in which members volunteer to have their power bills rounded up and the extra charge contributed to the foundation, grants are awarded each quarter.
The local charities receiving grants this quarter included: American Legion Post 307, $3,600; Friends of Disabled Adults & Children Too, $2,495; and FOCUS, $3,500.
In addition, Sawnee EMC also provided grants to the following organizations outside of Forsyth: Dawson County Wee Books Program Inc., $3,000; Challenged Child & Friends Inc., $2,500; Safe Kids Georgia, $5,000; Camp Kudzu, $1,500; and Porter Academy, $1,499.
Since its inception in 2003, Operation Round Up has enabled the Sawnee Foundation to award grants totaling more than $1.4 million to numerous nonprofits and schools throughout a seven-county service area.
