Spring charity sale at Belk in Cumming benefits nonprofits

CUMMING — Belk leaders are looking for nonprofits and other organizations in need of funds to take part in the retailer’s spring charity sale from 6 to 10 a.m. May 2.

Through the program, charities can sign up to sell $5 admission tickets to the event.

All the nonprofits that take part get to retain 100 percent of the $5 ticket cost on all tickets they sell. In addition, all revenue from tickets sold in-store will be divided equally among them.

In return for purchasing a $5 ticket, customers get great buys on rarely discounted merchandise and other items throughout the store. They also receive a $5 credit on their Charity Sale purchases, completely offsetting the cost of the ticket.

The first 100 customers in each store on the morning of the sale will also receive free Belk gift cards, ranging in value from $5 to $100. There will also be a chance to win one of three $1,000 Belk cards awarded companywide.

All customers will also receive $5 back on their first purchase. Also, participating charities and schools will be registered to win one of three $1,000 donations from Belk in a companywide drawing.

Every year, groups ranging from pet organizations to school clubs and churches take advantage of the sale, which is held every fall and spring.

Last year, the two Charity Sale events raised more than $11 million for thousands of schools and community nonprofits throughout the Charlotte, N.C.-based retailer’s 16-state market.

Any charitable group wishing to take part in the upcoming Belk Charity Sale, can contact the local store at (770) 889-5998.
