Christmas in Central Park returns this weekend for a 10th year of holiday shopping and fun.
The Sawnee Artists Association show brings more than 90 vendors with handmade products to the Forsyth County Central Park Recreation Center.
The event runs from 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
Among the items for sale are jewelry, pottery, jams, clothing and paintings.
Since the event is also a juried show, the committee selecting the vendors tries to pick artists and crafters with different items, said Carole Kjellsen, the association’s publicity chair.
“They really work to have a nice variety and have them separated, so they’re sprinkled throughout,” Kjellsen said. “It’s definitely a shopping adventure.”
The event also includes a chance for kids and families to get a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Shoppers have the opportunity to drop off children at Santa’s workshop for supervised activities and gifts.
“They can actually make a gift there while mom and her friends are out shopping,” Kjellsen said.
The Sugar Plum Café offers food and drinks next to the stage for live entertainment. Some musicians will also be walking through the show throughout the weekend.
According to Kjellsen, the event always draws a big turnout for a unique opportunity to shop from quality vendors.
Christmas in Central Park is also a great fundraiser for the artists association, she said, allowing the nonprofit to bring other events to the community during the year.
