The Forsyth County Roads and Bridges Department is giving away free wood chips on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The chips are being kept in the department’s mulch yard across from Georgia State Patrol Post 37 on County Way off Ga. 400.
“The wood chips are a combination of green or dried hard and soft wood that can be used for a variety of purposes such as mulch, erosion control or a walking path surface,” said David Picklesimer, road superintendent.
Picklesimer noted that distributing the wood chips saves money that the county would’ve spent to dispose of them.
Residents are responsible for loading and hauling their own wood chips. They also are asked to keep the area clean.
