Authorities say they have disrupted a burglary ring that may be responsible for more than 20 crimes over the past year in Forsyth and neighboring counties.
Forsyth County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike McCarron said the three suspects face several local burglary charges and are under investigation by other jurisdictions.
“This investigation will continue probably for some time,” he said.
So far, the suspects -- a Forsyth County man and two Dawson County women -- have been linked to a handful of burglaries.
Jeremy Shoemaker, 24, was arrested Dec. 23 by the sheriff’s office and charged with six counts of burglary.
Hannah Anglin, 23, and Kimberly Waldrop, 19, were also arrested Dec. 23. They were picked up again Tuesday night.
Anglin has been charged with five counts of burglary and Waldrop faces four counts of the same charge.
All three suspects remain in custody at the Forsyth County Detention Center, a jail spokeswoman said.
McCarron said Shoemaker, Anglin and Waldrop are suspected in as many as 22 burglaries in 2009.
“We’ve been able to confirm nine burglaries between the three of them so far,” he said.
McCarron said the sheriff’s office is working with authorities in Dawson and Cherokee counties, where the three are also suspected in burglaries.
Other counties are also investigating them.
He credited the arrests to good cooperation between the community and authorities.
The burglaries date back to last January.
The suspects targeted homes countywide and chose houses that were not in neighborhoods, McCarron said.
“There was no method to the madness,” he said. “They just drove around aimlessly until they found a house that looked good.”
McCarron said some stolen property, including firearms, a digital camera and tools, has been returned to the owners. Authorities are trying to determine who owns the jewelry recovered in the investigation.
