Forsyth County’s Clerk of Superior Court has made two appointments to his office.

In a statement, Greg Allen announced that James Parks has been chosen as chief deputy clerk. The position was left open Aug. 1 when Dean Gravitt retired.

Parks is a graduate of North Georgia College & State University and North Forsyth High School. He previously worked for the county parks and recreation department for 11 years.

Allen said he has previously worked with Parks as a youth baseball coach, booster club director and member of the parks and recreation board.

"I knew him as a solid, intelligent, hardworking member of the community," Allen said. "… When he expressed interest in the chief deputy position, I jumped at the opportunity for him to join my office."

Lacey Blackwell, who has worked in the clerk’s office for more than 10 years, has been appointed to the position of office manager.

Like Parks, the mother of three is also a North Forsyth graduate.

Allen said Blackwell was "instrumental" in making sure an upgrade of court management software for the office went smoothly.

"[She] impressed everyone with her knowledge and her ability to adapt quickly and solve issues," Allen said.

He added that he is pleased with the new management team.

"Both are dependable, smart, technology savvy and sincerely care about Forsyth County and the citizens we serve," he said.
