CPD offering class in firearms safety

The Cumming Police Department is offering a free outreach program to teach residents about weapon safety and Georgia firearms law.

The firearms safety seminar is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Castleberry Community Building next to the police department.

The two-hour course is free and open to anyone 21 or older.

Attendance is limited to 100 and additional times will be scheduled if necessary.

Officers conducting the course will cover topics such as recommended home defense weapons and firearm and weapon storage and safety.

They will also cover state firearm and weapon laws and the use of pepper spray.

Information packets will be available on request for those who wish to educate their children about firearm safety.
