Dash cam video released of woman hit by Gainesville Police vehicle

A Gainesville Police vehicle struck a woman in a roadway when officers were responding to a domestic violence call Tuesday night, police said.

Vickie Barber, 57, of Gainesville, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries, according to Georgia State Patrol, which is investigating the accident.

Gainesville Police said the incident happened around 9:15 p.m. June 18, when a woman “was in the roadway in the area of a domestic violence call when a responding Gainesville Police vehicle struck her.”

The driver of the 2017 Ford Explorer police vehicle was Brittany Frantzreb. She was not injured.

Frantzreb was traveling south on Atlanta Highway/Ga. 13 at Lyman Street as Barber was trying to cross the road. Barber was charged with pedestrian under the influence and pedestrian not in a crosswalk while crossing the roadway, according to GSP.
