A Dawsonville man is currently in Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office custody after allegedly assaulting three people with a gun during a domestic dispute at a north Forsyth residence in early June.

According to sheriff’s office reports at approximately 5:45 a.m. on June 8, 2019, a north Forsyth man noticed headlights coming through his basement window, opened a back door to look out and was struck in the head by a white male, later identified as 34-year-old John Alden Brown, who was allegedly carrying a shotgun.

After blacking out briefly, the victim and his father reportedly fought with Brown, retreating farther into the home to call 911. A female victim at the home during the incident allegedly heard Brown state, ‘I’m going to kill him,” as he followed the two men through the home.

The report states that in the struggle between the parties, the woman was able to wrestle the gun from Brown, but not before she too was struck in the face with it.

After being relieved of the gun, the report states that Brown fled the residence.

Parties at the scene were treated for minor injuries and released, according to the report. A Sears Roebuck and Co. shotgun and 12-gauge shotgun shell were collected as evidence by sheriff’s office investigators.

Sheriff's office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater said Brown knew his alleged victims and the incident is believed to be related to a domestic dispute between Brown and one of the residents.

Rainwater said that Brown was arrested on Aug. 13 after he was released from custody in another jurisdiction. He has been charged with felony home invasion, aggravated assault with a gun and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Jail records show that Brown is being held in the Forsyth County Jail with no bond due to outstanding warrants from another agency.
