GAINESVILLE — A Gainesville man has been charged after a 17-year-old reported she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted before she was able to escape and 911 was called.

The girl told Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies that she was jogging Sunday in the area of Barrett Road in East Hall County when a man put her in a car and took her to a Wood Creek Place home where he sexually assaulted her. She was able to escape, running to a nearby residence.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that Brandon Nix, 27, was arrested in connection with the incident; he faces charges of kidnapping, sexual battery and aggravated sodomy.

Additional charges of false imprisonment, attempted rape and aggravated assault were added this afternoon.

According to the warrant issued Sunday, Nix grabbed the girl around the neck before putting her in his vehicle.

Nix, according to the Hall County Comprehensive Justice Information System, has an address in the area and has had multiple assault and battery charges brought against him in the past.

He’s being held at the Hall County Jail with no bond and has waived his committal hearing, according to the sheriff’s office.
