Gainesville man killed in head-on collision involving teen
emergency

A 59-year-old Hall County man was killed Sunday morning when a car driven by a 16-year-old crossed the center line of Keith Bridge Road in northeast Forsyth County.

The male 16-year-old from Cumming, who the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has declined to identify due to his age, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu east at about 7:25 a.m. Sunday, April 22, when the car crossed the line and struck a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix in the westbound lane, according to a news release from Cpl. Doug Rainwater.

A passenger in the Grand Prix, Manuel Oblea-Suarez of Gainesville, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and later pronounced dead, according to Deputy First Class Phil Alexander in the news release.

The driver of the Grand Prix, Jose M. Flores, 28, of Gainesville, and the teen were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Charges against the teen are pending the outcome of the investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit, Rainwater said.
