An inmate was hospitalized Tuesday night after drinking bleach he reportedly found at the Forsyth County Detention Center.

According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report, Tyron Dennis Kiser of Conyers, age unavailable, had been brought to the jail Tuesday afternoon on charges of driving under the influence and hit and run.

The charges were the result of a wreck involving a Forsyth County Sheriff’s vehicle, the report shows.

The incident happened about 10:30 p.m., while Kiser was waiting to use the phone in the jail intake area. According to the report, he walked over to a supply closet and found a container of bleach on the floor.

“Detention staff was immediately alerted by an incoming inmate that inmate Kiser had ingested the bleach,” the report said.

Kiser apparently told an emergency medical technician who arrived to evaluate him that he had intended to harm himself.

He was taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth for treatment and later returned to the jail.
