Authorities say that a Macon man was arrested in Forsyth County on Tuesday afternoon for allegedly sending illicit messages to a local teen via the social media platform Snapchat.
Joshua Edward Jeanes, 23, was taken into custody by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 27, after he self-surrendered to local authorities on outstanding warrants, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cpl. Jenny Belafi.
Belafi said that Jeanes allegedly met an unrelated 15-year-old female victim sometime over the last year and during the past months the victim began receiving illicit messages and photos of him.
After the victim came forward to Forsyth County authorities, warrants were secured for Jeanes’ arrest, Belafi said.
Jeanes has been charged with illegal solicitation (computer or electronic pornography/child exploitation) and was held in the Forsyth County Jail before being released on a $33,130 bond later on Tuesday afternoon.
Attempts to reach Jeanes for comment were unsuccessful.
