A 27-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing Tuesday night.

According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report, Robert James Lord of 7610 Bannister Road also faces two counts of cruelty to children.

Lord is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center on $13,200 bond for the aggravated assault charge, the report said. Bond has not been set on the other charges.

The stabbing occurred about 6 p.m. Tuesday at Lord’s home in north Forsyth and stemmed, the report said, from an argument with another man over a relationship with a female resident there.

Citing the report, sheriff’s spokeswoman Karleen Chalker said the woman, with whom Lord has children, had asked him to leave about two weeks ago.

“The children were at the residence when the fight started. They witnessed part of the altercation,” Chalker said. “That’s where the cruelty to children charges came in.”

According to the report, deputies found a 31-year-old man holding a cloth to his side where he had been stabbed.

The man is believed to be the new boyfriend of the woman, Chalker said.

A neighbor and a relative who were with the man told deputies he had argued with Lord, who then stabbed him.

Lord had left the scene, but was caught 30 minutes later in the nearby Concord Creek subdivision, Chalker said.

The other man was taken to North Fulton Hospital, where he was treated for what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
