Gainesville man indicted for assault with vehicle in Forsyth
Julio Cortez

A Forsyth County Grand Jury recently indicted a Hall County man for allegedly assaulting a man with his vehicle.

On April 12, Julio Cortez, 26, of Gainesville, is also accused of “intentionally caus[ing] bodily harm, to wit: a swollen eye to [the victim] by striking him on and about his face.”

Though the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was unable to produce an incident report detailing what specifically occurred, the Grand Jury indicted Cortez on one count of aggravated assault, a felony, and one count of battery, a misdemeanor.

Forsyth County Superior Court Judge Philip C. Smith issued a warrant for Cortez’s arrest on Aug. 15. He had originally made a $13,880 bond in April.

Smith will preside over the case, for which no further dates have been set.
