Pedestrian killed in hit and run on Dawson Forest Road identified

Officials with Georgia State Patrol have identified the pedestrian who was killed on Dawson Forest Road in Dawson County last night in a hit and run incident.

According to State Patrol spokeswoman Robin Stone, Bobby Eugene Wells, 80, of Dawsonville, was attempting to walk south across Dawson Forest Road from Chestatee Worship Center to Pinewood Trail when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Dawson Forest. 

The incident occurred at 7:37 p.m.

Stone said the vehicle struck Wells with the front passenger side area and left the scene.

Wells was deceased at the scene. 

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident and trying to identify the vehicle, Stone said. Anyone with information is asked to call the state patrol office at (770) 205-5400.
