GAINESVILLE – The remains found Friday in a vacant lot in Gainesville were an adult male, Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said Sunday. The man’s identity isn’t known.

Holbrook said authorities are “still awaiting autopsy results,” and when the results would come in was unclear as of Sunday.

The remains were found in a lot near Dorsey Street on Jesse Jewell Parkway as “investigators were here following up on an investigation” about 2 p.m. Friday, Holbrook previously said.

Foul play has not been ruled out, according to Holbrook, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case.
