A woman who authorities say took a gold minivan for a test drive at a South Hall dealership two weeks ago and did not return has been arrested, but the vehicle has not been found.

Amanda Yvonne Moore-Nantz, 41, was charged with theft by taking, identity theft/fraud and first-degree forgery. She was being held at the Hall County Jail pending a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Moore-Nantz was arrested in Carroll County after she was recognized from a social media post, according to Lt. Scott Ware, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Moore-Nantz took a Chrysler Pacifica for a test drive after giving a fraudulent ID at Kar Kingdom on Atlanta Highway in Buford on May 17.

Salesman Tony Ruiz said after the incident that  the woman was dropped off and gave a driver’s license, saying she wanted to take the minivan for a demo ride.

“She took the vehicle and never came back,” Ruiz said.

Sheriff’s office investigators worked with other metro Atlanta agencies that were investigating similar crimes, Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said.

The warrants were obtained against the woman May 24, and she was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Carroll County Detention Center and later transferred to the Hall County Jail.

Investigators are still pursuing leads and searching for the gold minivan, which has not been recovered, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

The case remains under investigation.
