SOUTH FORSYTH – An armed robbery occurred about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Foothills Community Bank on Bethelview Road, according to officials with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

A silent alarm was triggered at the bank, which sits between Atlanta Highway (Hwy. 9) and Castleberry Road, according to Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the agency.

The suspect – whose identifying information has not been released to aid the active investigation – reportedly entered the bank with a gun and demanded money, Rodriguez said.

No one was injured in the incident, Rodriguez said, though the man did get away with an undisclosed amount of money from the bank’s register.

“We are unsure of how he fled, and it’s still an active scene and a continuous, ongoing investigation,” Rodriguez said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (770) 781-2222.
