CUMMING — A suspect charged with burglarizing nine Forsyth County businesses in an eight-month span may be responsible for many similar crimes in metro Atlanta, authorities said Tuesday.

Erick Dominguez-Ramirez, 35, of Gwinnett County will face burglary charges in at least four nearby jurisdictions, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Dominguez-Ramirez was taken into custody Friday after an extensive investigation that the sheriff’s office said also involved other law enforcement agencies. He is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Jail.

“We believe he has been involved in as many as 43 burglaries within the Forsyth, Gwinnett, Johns Creek, Duluth and Suwanee jurisdictions,” said Cpl. Kris Hall, the lead Forsyth investigator in the case.

Forsyth investigators were led to Dominguez-Ramirez, who they said has confessed to many of the crimes, following the March 22 burglary of a Century 21 real estate office.

After obtaining some leads from evidence, investigators conducted interviews and surveillance in cooperation with other authorities, which resulted in the arrest of Dominguez-Ramirez.

According to Hall, the burglaries in Forsyth began on Aug. 16. Eight different businesses were involved, and one — Castle Car Wash on Hwy. 20 — was struck twice.

In Forsyth, Dominguez-Ramirez faces 10 counts each of burglary in the second degree, theft by taking, criminal damage and possession of burglary tools.

Hall said the suspect also faces charges related to 10 burglaries in Suwanee, six in Gwinnett, five in Johns Creek and two in Duluth.

Authorities have not ruled out additional charges.

“Once the investigation is completed, he could be tied to as many as 60 burglaries in the metro-Atlanta area,” Hall said.
