A man charged in at least two church burglaries in Hall County is also a suspect in a recent store robbery on this side of Lake Lanier.

Forsyth County Sheriff's investigators say Jeremy Nathan Brantley, 26, likely will be charged in the robbery of a Chevron on Hwy. 369 earlier this month.

The store in northeastern Forsyth is not far from where authorities found a safe that had been taken from Maranatha Christian School in Oakwood.
Further investigation led authorities to Brantley.

Authorities have not ruled out additional arrests as the investigation continues. In fact, Gainesville Police Lt. Brian Kelly has said "all involved agencies" are continuing to look at whether Brantley may be responsible for other burglaries in both counties.

So far, Brantley has been charged in the May 11 burglary of Maranatha and the May 21 burglary at Gainesville First United Methodist Church on Thompson Bridge Road.

Kelly said authorities also "could make a pretty good hunch" that Brantley was casing another church just before he was picked up on unrelated traffic offenses earlier this month.

Kelly said police were dispatched to Lakewood Baptist Church, also on Thompson Bridge Road, on June 2 for a report of a suspicious person near the church.

The person left in a car before police arrived, but was later pulled over by a Hall County Sheriff’s deputy, Kelly said.

Brantley, the driver of the car, was brought in to be interviewed about the Methodist church burglary but declined to make a statement, Kelly said.

He was then taken to jail on traffic charges.

The safe, which still contained documents and some $7,000 in checks, turned up in a wooded area off Hwy. 369 just inside the Forsyth line.

Oakwood police, who were contacted after the safe was found, have said other people could be charged in connection with the school break-in.

A video game console and small amount of cash were taken in the burglary at the Methodist church.
