It could be months before authorities know what caused the death of a 19-year-old Dawson County woman whose body was found Saturday in a northeastern Forsyth County home.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Lt. Col. Gene Moss said investigators have turned up no evidence of foul play in the death of Cassondra "Cassie" Ellen Key. Still, it could take three months for toxicology results to return from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab.

According to a Forsyth County Sheriff's report, a resident of the Lakeside Manor Estates home where Key was found called authorities after noticing the teen's lips were blue and her skin was cold.

Several hours earlier, the resident had encountered Key and her pit bull at the Ingles grocery store on Buford Highway where he works.

According to the report, the employee told deputies Key appeared intoxicated and he "did not want the female to drive away in the state she was in, so he offered to take her to his house and let her sleep."

He reportedly took them to his home about 4 a.m. and then returned to work. He came back home about 8:30 a.m., made breakfast and went to check on Key.

Key lived on Duck Thurmond Road in Dawson County. Attempts to reach members of Key's family were not successful Wednesday.

According to her obituary, Key was a 2007 Dawson County High School graduate who worked at Tuesday Morning in Cumming and was a student at Lanier Technical College.

Key is survived by her parents, Pam and Mike Vanstaveren of Dawsonville and Chris and Sandy Key of Gainesville. Other survivors include her brothers, Chris Key and Cory Key of Dawsonville and various other family members.

The family will receive friends all day Thursday at Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville. Her funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
