UPDATE: Suspect in armed robbery at west Forsyth pharmacy in custody

WEST FORSYTH -- (UPDATE 12:21 p.m.) A man donned in a blue wig and held up a pharmacy in west Forsyth Wednesday night for prescription medications, only to be caught during a traffic stop about three hours later.

WEST FORSYTH -- (UPDATE 11:24 p.m.) Forsyth County Sheriff's Cpl. Robin Regan said a suspect in tonight's armed robbery at a pharmacy on Bethelview Road is in custody.

"The man we were looking for was located by a deputy during a traffic stop while he was searching the area," Regan said.

Regan said the suspect, whose name has not been released, is being questioned by investigators and that deputies are currently conducting a search of a residence related to the case.

WEST FORSYTH -- (10:35 p.m.) An armed man who robbed a pharmacy on Bethelview Road in west Forsyth Wednesday night remains at large, are officials said deputies will continue to search for him overnight.

The unidentified male reportedly entered the Bethelview Pharmacy in the Steeplechase Plaza between Castleberry Road and Atlanta Highway (Hwy. 9) just before 8 p.m. Oct. 12, presented a firearm to an employee and “demanded medication from behind the counter,” Forsyth County Sheriff’s Cpl. Robin Regan said.

“Deputies were close by and immediately attempted to locate the suspect, but he was not located in the immediate area,” Regan told Forsyth County News reporters on scene.

The suspect, identified only as a male, fled with an undisclosed amount and type of prescriptions.

There was no indication the public is in danger.

The incident is under investigation.
