Forsyth County News
Family and friends of a Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy who died last month while on the job will honor him this weekend.

James Michael Lord, 56, of Dawsonville died Jan. 25 of an apparent heart attack while transporting an inmate from Forsyth County Magistrate Court to the jail.

A gardenia bush will be planted in his honor at noon Saturday by Magistrate Court on Tribble Gap Road in Cumming.

A flowering Japanese cherry tree will then be planted on the southeast corner of the lawn at the Forsyth County Courthouse on Veterans Memorial Boulevard downtown.

Plaques will also be placed at both locations.

In the event of bad weather, the events will be rescheduled for March 6.
