A Forsyth County man was hospitalized Monday after his vehicle crashed into a gas pump in Cumming.

The wreck occurred about 9:15 a.m. outside the Shell Station at Hwy. 20 and Elm Street.

According to a Cumming police report, the 39-year-old driver apparently had a seizure.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to North Fulton Hospital with what were described as minor injuries.

According to the report, the driver was traveling east on Hwy. 20 when the Honda Accord left the road and struck a parked vehicle in front of the gas station. It then slammed into a diesel pump.

“After striking a gas pump and rebounding from a support beam, pieces of the broken gas pump also damaged a third vehicle,” the report said.

Fortunately, the pump’s safety cutoff activated upon impact and prevented the station’s holding tanks from leaking.

No other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
