Authorities say that a 58-year-old Forsyth County man has been identified as the person who was killed in a wreck along Francis Road in southwest Forsyth Tuesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Hawkins was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle wreck near 3445 Francis Road at about 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

So far investigators have determined that a 2003 Honda Civic, operated by Hawkins, was traveling east on Francis Road when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater said on Wednesday that Hawkins's body has been transported to a nearby funeral home. The cause of the wreck is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office’s Traffic Specialist Unit.

The driver of the Ford F-150 received non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital, the release stated.

This is the seventh fatal traffic incident in Forsyth County this year and second in less than a week.
