Visitors to the local Georgia Department of Driver Services center during the coming week may want to bring a few toys along.

The department, in a partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, is collecting new, unwrapped toys through Dec. 16.

Donations may be dropped off during operating hours at the center, 400 Aquatic Circle in Cumming.

The center is open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 8 a.m.-noon on Saturdays.

Susan Sports, spokeswoman for the department, said managers at some customer service centers have made collection boxes, as there were not enough official ones for each location statewide.

"I know this year in particular they are in dire need of toys," said Sports, adding that employees and customers are encouraged to bring a gift.

She said officials have also suggested that those making road test appointments over the phone bring donations when they come to the centers.
