The North Georgia Community Foundation is accepting applications for the Judge Richard S. “Stan” Gault Education Scholarship.

The Gault family created the scholarship in 2010 to honor his memory and provide Forsyth County students with the opportunity to pursue their educational goals.

The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student whose primary residence is in Forsyth County. Applicants may be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Paula Gault, wife of the late Stan Gault, said in a statement that he “always believed that everyone deserved educational opportunities no matter what life stage they were in.”

“Stan would be so proud that a scholarship in his name helps a non-traditional student return to school,” she said.

An application, eligibility information and instructions for applying for the scholarship are available on the foundation’s website,

Applications will be accepted through Sept. 27 and the scholarship will be awarded for spring semester 2014.
