Bus entrance at North Forsyth High School getting makeover

NORTH FORSYTH — The bus entrance at a Forsyth County high school soon will be getting upgraded.

The Forsyth County commission voted 5-0 on Thursday to approve the addition of left and right turn lanes for school buses at North Forsyth High off Hwy. 369 in the Coal Mountain community.

The work will be handled by Bartow Paving Co. of Cartersville for $189,614, with the funds coming from the 2014 voter-approved transportation bond program.

Donna Kukarola, the county’s procurement director, told commissioners the project was “time sensitive,” with the work to be completed by year’s end.

When finished, the lanes should ease traffic congestion and improve safety in the area, which also includes two other schools — Coal Mountain Elementary and North Forsyth Middle.
